GIS

Consultant: Geospatial Intelligence

The Role

At Spatial Insights, we turn complexity into clarity. We are a UK-based specialist in geospatial intelligence, digital twins, predictive analytics, and spatial strategy, helping clients move from data-rich to insight-led. Our work sits at the intersection of environment, infrastructure, and digital innovation, supporting water companies, regulators, and catchment partners to make better, faster, and more resilient decisions. From catchment to coast, we fuse modelling, monitoring, and emerging data sources such as remote sensing, satellite analytics, and real-time environmental data to uncover pollution pathways, predict risk, and drive smarter investment. This is not business-as-usual consultancy. This is about reshaping how the water sector understands and manages the environment.

Role Description – Geospatial Intelligence Consultant

We’re growing our Geospatial Intelligence team and are looking for individuals across all levels, whether you’re starting your career or are a senior, chartered professional.

You’ll be working at the heart of how organisations understand places, combining geospatial analysis, data integration, and domain insight to deliver meaningful, real-world outcomes. From environmental management to local government and infrastructure, you’ll help turn data into decisions. The role blends analytics, consultancy, and innovation. You’ll contribute to projects that move beyond mapping into true spatial intelligence, helping our clients connect land, assets, environment, and people into a single, coherent picture.
You’ll also play a role in shaping new approaches—developing products, methods, and tools that push the boundaries of how geospatial insight is used.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working with complex spatial and non-spatial datasets to generate insight, not just outputs; supporting delivery of place-based analysis across sectors including utilities, environment, and local government; developing and applying geospatial workflows, tools, and digital solutions; contributing to innovative approaches including digital twins, real-time data integration, and advanced analytics; helping translate technical analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for clients; supporting or leading client-facing work depending on experience; contributing to product development and the evolution of our geospatial capabilities; connecting datasets, disciplines, and ideas to solve real-world challenges.

What We’re Looking For

We’re interested in how you think and solve problems, not just the tools you’ve used.
You might come from a background in GIS, geography, data science, environmental science, or a related field, but you’ll have a curiosity for how spatial data can drive better decisions.
Core strengths include strong analytical thinking, experience working with geospatial data and tools, the ability to communicate insight clearly, and a mindset focused on solving problems rather than producing outputs.
Depending on your level, you may also bring experience in consultancy, project delivery, or technical leadership.

Core Strengths

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and interrogate complex spatial and non-spatial datasets
  • Experience working with geospatial data to generate insight, not just outputs
  • Ability to translate technical analysis into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Problem-solving approach that focuses on outcomes and real-world application
  • Confidence communicating ideas with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Curiosity and systems thinking—able to connect data, disciplines, and context

Desirable Experience (but not essential)

  • Experience with geospatial tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms
  • Exposure to data tools or languages such as Python, SQL, or spatial databases
  • Familiarity with workflow automation using power automate, FME, or bespoke automation
  • Understanding of or interest in remote sensing, Earth observation, or real-time data
  • Experience in consultancy, project delivery, or client-facing environments

Why Join Us?

  • You’ll be part of a team that goes beyond “just maps” to deliver real spatial intelligence.
  • You’ll work on diverse, high-impact challenges across sectors and geographies.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to help shape new products, approaches, and ways of thinking.
  • And you’ll be in an environment where curiosity, innovation, and connecting the dots is rewarded.

If you’re interested in using geospatial data to tell better stories, solve complex problems, and influence real decisions, we’d love to hear from you.
